Workplace Accommodations 101

A reasonable accommodation is a change to how or where work is done that helps an employee with a disability perform their job — this could be a flexible schedule, assistive technology, or a modified workspace.

The process usually begins with a conversation, not a form. Employees don't need to disclose a diagnosis — only that they have a condition affecting their ability to do specific job functions.

The 'interactive process' means employer and employee work together to identify an effective accommodation. It's collaborative and can be revisited if circumstances change.
